Physics Minor

Department Advanced Placement Policy

Students who scored 4 or 5 on the AP Physics C: Mechanics exam may receive advanced standing in the Physics curriculum. Contact the department chair to discuss this option. 

Requirements

A minor in physics is also offered for those seeking an exploration of physics beyond the introductory level.

Required Math courses:
Calculus 1
and Calculus 2 (or the equivalent)
Required Physics courses:
Introductory Physics 1: Mechanics, Fluids and Waves
and Introductory Physics 2: Electromagnetism, Optics and Modern Physics
Modern Physics
Select three additional physics courses, in consultation with advisor.
Mathematical Methods and Scientific Computing in Physics
Modern Physics Lab
Quantum Computing
Intermediate Topics in Physics
Classical Mechanics
Thermal Physics
Electromagnetic Theory
Quantum Mechanics
Introduction To Astrophysics
